Certificate of Competency (COC)

Certificate issued and Endorsed for masters, officers and GMDSS Radio Operators in accordance of regulations of the Law of Georgia, entitling the lawful holder thereof to serve in  the capacity  and perform the functions involved at the level of responsibility specified therein. It is issued for 5 years.

Seafarers are allowed to revalidate the COC without exams if he/she will provide evidence of 12 months in total of seagoing service during the preceding 5 years, or 3 months in total during the preceding 6 months immediately prior to revalidation.

Please note, that appropriate refresh training is required for revalidation of GMDSS’s CoC.

 

Certificate of Qualification

STCW Certifications 

The following documents must be attached to the application:    

• Photo - Photo of the House of Justice from the booth on a white or blue uniform background, taken in the last 6 months , covering the face  from the chin to the scalp , without glasses and a headscarf . (The number of photographs must be one more than the number of certificates to be issued);    
• Individual application protocol from the maritime training institution - the application must indicate the start and end dates of the completed courses, the number of the individual protocol;          
• Copy of valid civil passport with original presentation - photocopied (personalized) page;   
• Copy of the sailor's book with original presentation - issued by the responsible body of Georgia;
• Copy of the completed competency/qualification certificate (work diploma) submitting the original, or for beginners, a copy of education certificate with original presentation.

 

Master on Ships of 3000 GT or More

• Application form; 
• Photo – Color bio-photo, taken in Public Service Hall within the last 6 months.  Photo shall cover full face from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin, without spectacles and headwear;
• A Copy of Diploma of Education with submission of original;
• Seafarers Medical Certificate – Issued in Medical Center Recognized by Agency (Copy);
• Copies of Mandatory Certificates of Proficiency with submission of original – in accordance with applied rank (Validity of Certificate should be not less than 6 months);
• A copy of valid Civil Passport  with submission of original;
• A copy of the Seaman's Book with submission of original;
• Sea going service with 3000 GT and more – sea experience as Chief Officer not less than 16 months;
• A copy of Seafarer’s existed Certificate of Competence;
• Examination Ces 5.0 (Management Level deck with final answer not less than 80%);
• Oral examination .

• Seafarers Medical Certificate – Issued in Medical Center Recognized by Agency (Copy);
• Copies of Mandatory Certificates of Proficiency with submission of original – in accordance with applied rank (Validity of Certificate should be not less than 6 months);
• A copy of valid Civil Passport  with submission of  original;
• A copy of the Seaman's Book with submission of original;
• Sea going service with not less than 3000 GT – General sea experience as Officer in charge not less than 16 months;
• A copy of Seafarer’s existed Certificate of Competence;
• Examination Ces 5.0 (Management Level deck with final answer not less than 75%);

Officer in charge of a navigational watch 500 GT or more

• A Copy of Diploma of Education with submission of original;
• Seafarers Medical Certificate – Issued in Medical Center Recognized by Agency (Copy);
• Copies of Mandatory Certificates of Proficiency with submission of original – in accordance with applied rank (Validity of Certificate should be not less than 6 months);
• A copy of valid Civil Passport  with submission of original;
• A copy of the Seaman's Book with submission of original;
• Seagoing service on vessel 500 GT or more of not less than 12 months as Deck cadet and is documented in an approved training record book, or otherwise has had approved seagoing service of not less than 36 months in Deck department;
• A copy of Seafarer’s existed Certificate of Competence;
• Examination Ces 5.0 (Operational Level deck with final answer not less than 70%);
• Oral examination.

• A copy of Seafarer’s existed Certificate of Competence;

Officer in charge of an engineering watch 750 kw or more

• Copies of Mandatory Certificates of Proficiency with submission of original – in accordance with applied rank (Validity of Certificate should be not less than 6 months);
• A copy of valid Civil Passport  with submission of original;
• A copy of the Seaman's Book with submission of original;
• Seagoing service on vessel 750kw or more of not less than 12 months as engine cadet and is documented in an approved training record book, or otherwise has had combined workshop skills training of not less than 36 months of which not less than 30 months shall be seagoing service in engine department;
• A copy of Seafarer’s existed Certificate of Competence;
• Examination Ces 5.0 (Operational Level engine with final answer not less than 70%);
• Oral examination.

• A copy of valid Civil Passport  with submission of original;
• A copy of the Seaman's Book with submission of original;
• Have completed not less than 12 months of combined workshop skills training and approved seagoing service of which not less than six months shall be seagoing service and is documented in an approved training record book, or otherwise not less than 36 months of combined workshop skills training and approved seagoing service of which not less than 30 months shall be seagoing service in the engine department;
• A copy of Seafarer’s existed Certificate of Competence;
• Examination Ces 5.0 (Detail test “electrician test” Management Level with final answer not less than 70%);
